NCEBR 2017 Hands-On Workshop in eBeam Technologies

The National Center for Electron Beam Research (NCEBR) at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas serves as an unparalleled venue for academic, government, and industry scientists to carry out strategic electronic pasteurization and sterilization research and commercial projects using eBeam. To address the needs of the food, phytosanitary, agribusiness, and pharmaceutical industries, the NCEBR is organizing a week-long hands-on workshop in eBeam technologies in March 2017. This will be the 8th eBeam workshop, after the first successful workshop in April 2010.

Dates: March 19-24 2017

Location: Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas USA

2017 Risø HDRL Courses - Validation and Process Control for Low Energy E-beam Sterilization

October 23-25, 2017

This course is aimed at users of 80 – 300 keV electron beam irradiation who need traceable dose measurements for documentation of the process. The content of this low-energy course follows the same outline as the high-energy course. The special aspects of dosimeter calibration and dose measurements at low energy electron irradiation are addressed through dosimetry exercises using the Risø HDRL low energy electron accelerator.

US FDA recognizes more ASTM Standards on Dosimetry

The US FDA continues to recognize more of ASTM committee E61's standards on dosimetry and applications. John Logar, Chairman of E61 says "The expertise and collaboration within ASTM Committee E61 has provided valuable consensus standards for the industry and to have twelve of them acknowledged by the US FDA is a confirmation of those efforts." To review the US Federal Register go here:
Federal Register | Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act of 1997: Modifications to the List of Recognized Standards, Recognition List Number: 034

We provide a list of the E61 standards recognized so far, by number (titles are too long).
ASTM standards - E2303, E2628, E2701

ISO/ASTM standards - 51261, 51275, 51276, 51607, 51608, 51649, 51702, 51707, 51818

New Panel Document - LE Ebeam Surface Decontamination

The Panel on Gamma and Electron Irradiation has published a new guidance document that will be extremely helpful for companies and personnel involved in the use of low energy electron beams for the decontamination of surfaces. This fast growing segment of our industry uses irradiation in pharmaceutical filling lines to prevent contamination. The document may also be useful as a guide for other similar applications such as food and beverage packaging. This is the first document to be published on the subject and we applaud the effort of the Panel to get this released
